Moth Treatment Plan

How Do I Know I Have A Moth Infestation?

The Clothes Moth, Case & Bearing Clothes Moth are mainly a pest on carpets with all or some wool content or clothes. The Carpet Beetle prefers bird’s nest’s, cereals, dead rodents/birds to carpets. It is the larvae of all species that cause the damage, the adults do not feed on wool at all but on pollen & nectar. Adult moths don’t usually feed at all, just mate, lay eggs & then die. It is usually undisturbed areas of carpets or clothes that have not been worn for a long time that are attacked. Often when a piece of standing furniture is moved you may notice damage or when a not often used item of clothing is removed from storage damage is noticed.

Why Should They Be Treated?

Moths infestations will cause damage to clothes & carpets and if not controlled will increase in number. The same applies to the other types of stored product moths. Consuming Larvae in contaminated food is not advisable.

Preparation Prior To Treatment

All areas in & around the infested areas should be cleaned, carpets vacuumed & furniture moved. In the case of stored product moths then the infested food should be removed to an outside bin & the cupboards etc cleaned out & contents removed ready for spraying.

We treat the interior of the rooms with fumigation machine , filling the volume of the room with a fog of chemical in the air, which slowly fall down and cover every single inch with insecticide against moths. Our treatment plan for moths includes 2 visits, which will target the moth life cycle as well with the insects and will guarantee you a moth FREE home for a normal infestation.

  1. During the 1st visit the technician will locate the source of the infestation and spray all the carpets in the house with insecticide with a hand sprayer. Then the technician will use a special machine to fill the volume of all the rooms with a fog of insecticide in the air. Moth monitor traps will be deployed in order to determine the activity between the visits.
  2. On the 2nd visit, the technician will use different insecticide designed also to remain active for much longer period of time. Again a special machine will be used to fill the volume of all the rooms with a fog of insecticide in the air.
  3. Pest control report will be given to the customer after each visit.

*Additional visit might be required if there is a heavy infestation and the technician advise you.

The technician will use special respiratory mask and gloves to protect himself from the insecticides. Keep in mind that no one else must be present in the property during the moment of treatment . There also needs to be "drying" time of 3 hours after the treatment, before the property can be occupied.

What Do I Do Afterwards?

It is important that you do not wash down or vacuum treated areas for at least 14 days or until you stop seeing dead or dying moths & beetles or their larvae. Once this period is over it is important to be very thorough when vacuuming especially the undisturbed areas. This in itself will help prevent re infestation in the future. A common cause of Moth infestation is when people store off cuts of carpets or bags of clothes in loft spaces or cupboards. When cleaning (after the 2 week period), close attention should be given to rugs and carpets, draperies, upholstered furniture, closets (especially those containing woolens and furs), radiators and heaters, corners, cracks, baseboards and other hard-to-reach places. All areas, including carpet areas under standing furniture must be vacuumed on a regular basis.

We guarantee to reduce the infestation to a level that further damage stops for one month after the initial treatment. This is providing the advice on vacuuming & general hygiene is adhered to.
